Our Concerts

BSO performs 3-4 concerts a year in September, November, March and June. We continue to explore new repertoire and create exhilarating performances. Our concerts, collaborations with local arts organizations, outreach project with schools and come & play string days are all part of the orchestra's mission - education in and appreciation of orchestral music.

We were very grateful to the Halsall Foundation for their support with our Let's Dance concert.

Our summer concert was conducted by a guest conductor, Flick Cliffe. We introduced our audience to Farrenc's wonderful 3rd symphony followed by a programme of music inspired by flight.

Our annual Come and Play String Day was a great success.

The day included coaching from Alexandra Stemp and Amanda Turner and culminated in an informal play through for family and friends.

In February our pop up orchestra brought a smile to people's faces as they came into Blackpool Victoria Hospital to visit friends and relatives. Our collection was for the Blue Skies Hospitals Fund.

Helen Harrison debuted on woodblock!

In March we had a conducting workshop for orchestral members where they conducted Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker and Prices' Juba Dance at a rehearsal as part two of the workshop with Helen.

In May we welcomed 6 undergraduate conductors from the Royal Northern College of Music as part of their conducting exams. It was fascinating to witness different technical and stylistic approaches.

We wish them all the very best for the future.
