Past Concerts
2019-2020
The first concert of our 2019-20 season. Last Night of the Proms is always a favourite and we were delighted to welcome back Poulton People’s Choir to sing with us again for the Prom concert this year.

We continued our season on 23 November 2019 with our ‘People and Protest’ Concert. In this concert we explored how composers have expressed their views about current and historical events within their work. The programme included Arnold’s Peterloo Overture to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre.
Our Spring Concert on 28 March 2020 was due to take us to Lytham St Annes where we would have been performing Elgar’s Music Makers with Lytham St Annes Choral Society and AKS Chamber Choir. The orchestra and choir had a rehearsal together at AKS just before COVID 19 resulted in us having to postpone the concert. The tickets had sold out and we are planning to reschedule this once we are able to do so.
Our final concert for this season was due to be on 4 July 2020 back at Hodgson Academy with a performance of Hummel’s Bassoon Concerto by our principal bassoonist, Russell Irwin. This concert also had to be postponed due to COVID 19 but the programme will be rescheduled at a future date.
