Celebrating 'Together'

What a fantastic evening. This was the second concert in our centenary celebrations.

We opened the concert with Tchaikovsky IV which was programmed to symbolise what we have all been through over the last 18 months.

After a short interval we introduced the audience to Fanny Hensel’s beautiful Overture in C. To our knowledge, this was BSO's first performance of a work by a #womancomposer but it certainly won’t be another 100 years before we perform other works by women composers.

2021 is the 100th anniversary of Malcolm Arnold’s birth and it was therefore fitting that we ended our centenary concert with his Scottish Dances. We were delighted that his niece, Penny Arnold, attended as our guest along with Howard Ballard, Deputy Mayor of Wyre.
